LTE standard involves
various approaches among which there are very significant and initiated by the
operators of the standard. Some additional approacheshave also been taken among
which there is an additional approach which is not at all taken by the
operators. The approach is to use the Over-the-top content services by using
various chatting applications like Skype and Google Talk just to provide voice
service of LTE. Though it happened, mobile operators are still dependent mostly
on the voice call service and will continue to do that for earning their
revenue. So, if the LTE voice service is entirely handed over to the OTT
actors, it is apparent that it will receive little support and professional
recognition in the telecom industry.
Right from the
beginning, almost all major LTE backers chose and contributed greatly to the
promotion of VoLTE.The initial devices of LTE lacked in software support. The core
network devices have paved several carriers to promoteVoLGAas an interim
finding. VoLGA stands for Voice Over LTE Generic Access. To use the identical
principles as Generic Access Network which is also called UMA or sometimes
called Unlicensed Mobile Access was the main ideaand it defines the protocols
which enables a mobile handset to perform voice calls over a the private or
confidential Internet connection, generally over wireless LAN. However, VoLGA
was never a much support solution, because of its VoLTE truly flexible services
by means of upgrading the entire infrastructure of voice calls. Single Radio
Voice Call Continuity or SRVCC was a necessary requirement for VoLTE so that
the solution can simply do a handover to a 3G network when the signal quality
LTE is poor.
